everything you need to know about the Film Festival

Hey there WVU students! Please join us in April for the 11th edition of the West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival!

The West Virginia Mountaineer Short Film Festival is an international and student film screening hosted by the Digital Art and Animation program in the School of Art and Design. The festival occurs at the end of the spring semester right here on the WVU campus, returning this year on the weekend of April 19th – 21st. We'll show over 100 films and animations from around the world, across the region and from students right here at WVU! Films will be shown in the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center and the Mountainlair, as well as other venues throughout Morgantown soon to be announced.

In addition to the film screenings, there will be awards, Q&A discussions, meet-ups and special exhibitions including a one-day performance and digital media art exhibit.

The Film Festival is a really great way to get together with your friends to watch films and animations that you cannot see in the movie theater or on your typical streaming platforms. The work we show is independent, boundary pushing, cutting edge, thought provoking, unique, and sometimes also strange, weird, off-the-wall and outlandish. You cannot see this type of work anywhere else except at a small independent Film Festival like WVMSFF!

So grab some friends and some obligatory popcorn and milk duds – on us! – and join us for an amazing weekend April 19 – 21. In addition to some pretty amazing films and animations there will be lots of other cool activates.

Want to submit a video or animation that you have created to the festival? We'd like to see it! Follow the link below to instructions on how to submit.
